BIG CURVE LC1

Starting from scratch and all over again is not easy and involves some risk. However, Louis Chevrolet did it at least twice: the first in 1900 by leaving Europe for the United States in order to start a new life, and the second by giving up its shares and the name of the brand car bearing his name to his associate, William Durant, following irreconcilable disputes.

We also tried out this perilous exercise a few years ago by designing the Big Curve collection which was to be radically different from the watches we had produced until then. The split-second chronograph models  LC1 are the first witnesses of this exercice.

THE BEGINNING OF A STORY

Start over with a blank sheet

The Big Curve LC1 collection is the result of the brand's “Grand Virage” in 2016 and the overhaul of all of the existing collections at that time by wiping out previously marketed models.

This shift has also enabled the implementation of the brand's new philosophy with, as one of the main pillars, the integration into our watches of the multiple technical and aesthetic innovations developed in our technical office.

A showcase collection

The second pillar of our strategy established during the Louis Chevrolet reform is the brand's digital shift, with timepieces being marketed exclusively via the internet or in our showroom.

The models in the LC1 collection were designed on a pebble-shaped watch case with attached lugs and an unusual multi-layered dial.

The Big Curve LC1 Collection

At the heart of manufacturing

A giant puzzle

With a complex design, the watches in this collection are made up of a multitude of elements: case, lugs, pushers, dial elements, crown block, etc.

One of the most remarkable pieces is undoubtedly the multi-layered dial, for which we have used one of our patents developed in-house: the structural projection. This special paint is sprayed on the various components of the dial and then delicately worked with a laser to obtain the desired decoration.

A pebble on the wrist

The multiple parts that make up the watch case as well as its dial have been machined in our workshops. Once the lugs are delicately polished, they are attached to the case to give the watch its almost final pebble shape.

The back of these models is laser-worked in order to finely emboss a map of the world as well as the important places in Louis Chevrolet's life.

"Never go unnoticed again"

The world of assembly

Step by step

Before the watch can be fitted together, it is necessary to assemble the many components of the case, the dial as well as the crown block with its specific crown protection.

The various bridges making up the centerpiece of the watch are successively affixed and fixed to the base plate of the dial, giving it all its character and style.

Bring the watch to life

Once the dial is assembled to the movement, the final casing of these Swiss made timepieces can begin.

The movement-dial unit is integrated into the pebble-shaped case, the domed anti-reflective two-sided crystal is driven out, the pushers and crown unit made functional and the case-back is closed.

A test of all the functions of the watch is then carried out before it is allowed to leave the assembly workshop.
